Sadé’s POV The block was lit. Essex had been completely shut down, and people from up and down the street filled every available inch of space. No cars lined the curbs; instead, the Chicago Police Department had blocked off the entire area, forcing everyone to park on nearby streets. Marco’s SUV sat a few blocks away, but Sadé’s Audi was right there in the driveway, covered in deep tints. The DJ had the speakers thumping, jumping from old school bangers to the latest hits, and the smell of barbecue thickened the air.

After fifteen minutes of driving, we stop at a very expensive and elegant looking Italian restaurant, called Roberto's. We get out of the parked car and head inside. We are greeted by a hostess dressed in a short pencil foot black skirt and a tight white button down blouse. "Hello, have you made reservations for tonight?" she asks with a wide smile, looking at Xavier. He responds with a nod of his head. "It's under Mr. Black."

Chapter 2 Fucking Chicago, the iconic “Windy City” and the historical playground of Al Capone, my personal favorite gangster. Here I am, stepping out of my sleek private jet that just touched down at a secluded terminal in O’Hare airport. Ophelia's POV "Ladies and gentlemen, the Chicago Sterling Wolves have just completed the most remarkable turnaround in minor league hockey history!" The announcer's voice boomed through the packed Chicago arena as our team skated victory laps around the ice. Six months ago, this facility had been nearly empty for games. Tonight, over eight thousand fans were on their feet, cheering for players who had transformed from struggling athletes into genuine contenders for NHL advancement.

The private conference room on the thirty-second floor of the Obsidian smells like fresh orchids and cold glass, the kind of sterile luxury hotels along Michigan Avenue cultivate on purpose, four blocks north of the river with a view straight down the Magnificent Mile through floor to ceiling windows. Rain streaks the glass in long uneven lines, Chicago's autumn refusing to commit to either storm or drizzle, and somewhere thirty-two floors below a horn blares twice against traffic backed up at the Michigan Avenue bridge. The air conditioning hums a fraction too cold, the kind of temperature control meant to keep power players sharp and slightly uncomfortable in equal measure.
