Basketball Player Married Himself Novels & Stories

The family’s reaction would be mixed, and they might even rebuke us, the media and public ought to insult my masculinity like they are already doing. I used to think I was a man when I took over the company at 20 without fault, but this marriage made me more of a man than anything could, who knew marriage could be this challenging.

In year two of my so-called marriage to Zachary Jurg, I tried applying for a joint bank loan to launch a business. The bank guy kept flipping his eyes between our marriage certificate and his screen, looking more confused by the second. Finally, he said, "Ms. Arden, this marriage certificate's not valid. You're showing up as single in our system." I blinked. "That can't be right. We got married—registered everything two years ago." He leaned in, frown deepening. "The system has you as single. But Zachary Jurg? He's married."

"I'm asking you -- no, I'm begging you. Consider it a last shred of dignity for our seven years of marriage." He was the first person I'd ever met who could make something so vile sound so elegant. I looked at his smug face, so certain I would fold for the sake of "dignity." "Fine." I said softly. "Bring me the application form." A flicker of triumph flashed in Graham's eyes. He immediately pulled a thick stack of documents from his briefcase.

Then she spoke again. “Even though you married another —” “Stop.” Ryan’s voice cut through her words. Then she froze. But Ryan’s face showed no emotion. “I've made my decision,” he said “But tonight, you made a terrible mistake.” Luciana looked confused. Ryan pointed his finger at me. “You touched my wife.”The word hit me hard. Something about the way he said it hit me. Luciana shook her head desperately. “She means nothing! She was forced into your life!” Anger rushed through me. But Ryan spoke before I could.

He moved through the room with clarity, his voice precise and prepared. But even as he argued the technicalities—that the marriage met the conditions, that the contract was valid, that Elena’s decision was voluntary—his mind kept returning to the hospital and to the warmth there. He realized, with an uncomfortable clarity, that the thing he was defending in the room was not just the company. It was now tangled with something more personal: the knowledge of Elena’s laugh, the image of her with Ethan.

But it was real. Later that evening, after the team had come and gone with updates on the lawsuit and the league appeal, Callan turned to me with a new intensity in his eyes. “Marry me,” he said suddenly. I blinked. “We already did. In this room. Remember?” He shook his head. “Not like that. Not the small hospital ceremony with just a few people. I mean really marry me. Soon. Legally. Publicly if you want. Before the suspension kicks in. Before the legal battles get worse. Before anything else can try to pull us apart. I want to stand in front of the world and call you my husband. I want paperwork. I want rings. I want everyone to know that we chose each other when everything was trying to d

The contact sends an unexpected ripple of warmth through me. “You’re overthinking this,” he says. “I don’t think that’s possible when my husband rewrites our marriage in front of international media.” “You are my wife.” “That wasn’t the question.” Silence settles again. I look down at our hands. At some point during the walk out of the ballroom, Adrian took mine again. I hadn’t even noticed when. Our fingers are still intertwined. I slowly try to pull away. His grip tightens. Not aggressively. Just enough to stop the movement.

In our eighth year, he said that we should wait until he received an invitation to Paris Fashion Week. It had been ten years, and he had finally won the Paris Fashion Award. However, he was marrying someone else. “Don’t bother with the divorce,” I said as I pulled my hand free. “I’d hate for Stella’s mother to see you two separate. It might make her condition worse. I can’t take responsibility for that.” Alexander froze for a moment before he breathed a sigh of relief. “Finally, you understand. Once this blows over, we can—” “There will be no ‘we.’” I cut him off. “Ten years, Alexander. Now, I finally see it clearly.”

For a long moment Ethan didn’t answer, then finally… “We’re getting married.” “What?” I stared at him in shock. “You heard me.” “No!” He narrowed his eyes,“No?” “You don’t love me… you don’t even want me.” “That stopped mattering this morning.” My heart shattered. “This is because of your reputation right?.” “It’s because the media will destroy both families if I don’t fix this immediately.” Fix this like I was a mistake or a scandal, or something dirty he needed to clean up. “You’re punishing me,” I whispered.

He was the man in the wheelchair. "Kate Sydnee?" The man looked at Kate with a serious and determined gaze. There was no smile on his lips. His face looked unfriendly. "Yes, I'm Kate Sydnee. I'm sorry, Sir. What's the matter?" asked Kate. She stood in confusion because she didn't know what to do. Because, she didn't recognize the man in front of her. "You forgot, just two days ago you signed a marriage contract with me!" Kate was shocked. She only remembered now, and to be sure, Kate stammered at the man. "Are you Mr. Jack-son Ma-tte-w?"
