Our mate stood immobile for a split second, and our mating bond was eerily empty before bliss erupted like a lighthouse guiding the way during a stormy night, shining bright to mark a path of safety through the tempest. Rias’s reply was forthright, but I still felt the need to clarify, carefully starting, “I’m not trying to rock the boat here, man, but if Mari is pregnant, then in all likelihood she carries a wolf within her belly. We haven’t discussed the future much beyond ending all the fighting, but I guess now is as good a time as any.”

My belly clenched into knots to prepare me for what came next. “Well,” she pulled lightly at her sweater—Frayed, I noted. Suddenly she faced me, her lips curling up into what seemed like a mirthless smile. “Because I'm a single unmated mother.” she answered. I took in a deep breath as quietly as I could. His confession. As my vision slowly cleared, I noticed the lights flickering above me, casting shadows. Dangerous voices surrounded me.

He couldn't believe his eyes. "From news reaching us at El Roberto, your one-stop shop for your famous Italian cuisines, the pair are currently on their first public date there, and this has come with mixed reactions from the public as Alpha Daniel has already gotten his fated mate and supposed Luna pregnant with not one but two babies – " "Sophie, turn off the television," Maddie ordered. The flat-screened TV went off and Maddie repositioned herself to sit beside him, taking his hands and placing them on her thighs. "Sawyer..."
