"Alright then." I could feel an overwhelming reluctance with each step Cassian took, slowly moving away from this white bed. His gaze was still fixed on the warm cup of chocolate milk I held, along with a tray of untouched snacks. The morning was still young, the sun eagerly spreading its charm. Maybe it was the fact that, legally speaking, I was still married to my civil partner. Whatever the reason, there was only the flimsiest of barriers between us—a mere tissue-thin wall we both pretended was solid as we continued our masquerade as friends. Some people might hate this whole "are we in a situationship?" ambiguity, but you know what? I actually liked it. Why? Because when it really came down to it… I wasn't his equal. I didn't want a man so high above me in status—a modern-day prince in our country—to choose a lowly daughter of a criminal when he had so many better options.

I don't know if we are just biding time, and trying to create some sort of excitement as we wait, to make this marriage arrangement less boring. I really don't know”

I stirred my soup. Soft soul music had begun to softly hum in the background. The restaurant chose the perfect romantic song to keep us in the mood. Fuck them. “None now.” He shifted away from his food and rested on the chair so that he could maintain eye contact with me. I pinched my toes together. Shawn knew just how and when to dominate a conversation. “How so?” “I don't keep commitments. It's more of a contract relationship. Once I notice they have begun to catch feelings, I put an end to the situationship.” He said.

DANRIOUS's POV ❦❦❦ I'm too nervous to face Runo right now, even though she's just sitting beside me while leaning her head on my right shoulder. Wait, I'm still confused. Does this mean that we're now in a relationship? I mean, is she my girlfriend now? But we already made love with each other, so we're already a married couple now? But we're still unmarried legally, so does that mean we're in a Mutual-Understanding-relationship? Aish! This is so confusing. I don't know what to think in this situation since it's my first time being in a serious relationship with someone, and I'm glad that Runo was my first and last.
