Regis’s eyes narrowed. “You can lie without blinking, huh?” he snapped, making Jack’s face flush red with anger.
“Believe it or not, I don’t care. My job is …,” Jack raised his gun again, this time pointing it straight at Regis’s head, “... to be your grim reaper.”
Regis’s only reaction was a slight furrow of his brow. He had been closely observing Jack, and today the man seemed more aggressive than usual. The way he was pointing the gun didn’t feel like someone trying to capture him—it felt like someone aiming to kill.
