Yumi Hara returns as Albedo, bringing that intoxicating mix of devotion and menace, and Sumire Uesaka voices Shalltear with her trademark high-energy, vampiric flair.

Beyond those three, the movie leans on the rest of the core ensemble from the series: Masayuki Katō as Demiurge, Aoi Yūki as Aura Bella Fiora, and Natsuki Hanae as Mare Bello Fiore. The chemistry feels seamless because it’s the same group that’s developed the roles over seasons, so even in movie-length storytelling their dynamics land hard. For me, hearing those familiar voices in a bigger, cinematic setting made the whole experience feel both nostalgic and freshly epic.

The 'Overlord' anime is a fantastic adaptation of the light novel series, and yes, all the major characters from the source material appear in it! From the bone-chilling yet oddly charismatic Ainz Ooal Gown to the fiercely loyal Guardians like Albedo and Shalltear, the anime brings them to life with stunning visuals and voice acting. The first season covers the initial arcs, introducing Nazarick’s inhabitants and their chaotic adventures in the New World.

What’s really impressive is how the anime captures the nuances of characters like Demiurge’s scheming nature or Cocytus’ unexpected honor. Even secondary characters like the lizardmen or the workers from the 'Men in the Kingdom' arc get their moments. If you’re a fan of the novels, seeing these characters animated is a treat—especially the Overlord’s iconic 'The Goal of All Life is Death' moment in Season 3. The anime does justice to the source material while adding its own flair.

The world of 'Overlord' is packed with fascinating characters, but the absolute standout is Ainz Ooal Gown, the skeletal sorcerer who finds himself trapped in the game 'Yggdrasil' as his in-game avatar. He's the leader of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, and his internal monologues about balancing his humanity with his undead nature are some of the most compelling parts of the series. Then there's Albedo, the lovestruck Overseer of the Guardians, whose obsession with Ainz borders on comical yet terrifying. Demiurge, the scheming demon, and Shalltear Bloodfallen, the vampire who occasionally goes rogue, add layers of unpredictability. The dynamics between these characters, especially how they misinterpret Ainz's often clueless decisions as genius, make the series a riot.

Beyond the Nazarick crew, you’ve got folks like Gazef Stronoff, the loyal warrior of the Re-Estize Kingdom, and Climb, the earnest knight serving Princess Renner. They provide a human perspective to contrast with Ainz’s overpowered antics. The way the series flips between Ainz’s internal panic and his subordinates’ blind devotion is pure gold. It’s one of those rare stories where even the side characters feel like they could carry their own spin-offs.
