Without hesitation, she walked toward a nearby table and grabbed a plate containing barely cooked meat specially prepared with ingredients for Sunny. Then she crouched down and began feeding her lovingly while Sunny happily devoured the meat with his tail wagging nonstop. The soldiers stared at the scene with stunned expressions. They themselves had not eaten proper meat ever since the apocalypse began. Yet a dog was casually eating fresh meat right in front of them. The sight left them feeling both shocked and speechless.

He appeared invincible, radiating power that sent chills down their spines. The soldiers couldn't believe it—he had survived! Tyler, stunned, felt a spark of hope ignite within him. They're all different ages, and all dressed in different shabby outfits. If someone had told me that they were a dangerous post-apocalyptic army unit, I would have laughed. Cannon fodder for whatever war they’re still fighting in there.” I stared at him, my mind racing. This couldn’t be happening. Not after everything we’d been through. Not after we’d finally found a glimmer of hope.

Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, I looked out at the apartment building in the distance. Flames were shooting into the sky, and faint screams carried through the air. Linda and Tyler had hidden from the zombies by climbing into a dumpster downstairs.
