I bite another piece off of the cookie, the warm chocolate gushing out. "Do you think two-hundred and fifty cookies will be enough for the parade?" Anessa asks, coming out of the back kitchen holding a tablet and pen. Katy sets down her magazine, getting serious. "Yeah, for thirty minutes. The Memorial Day parade is one of the biggest ones in town. You need to stock up, babe." Tabitha rolls her eyes. "Every parade in Pelican Bay is the biggest one in town."

But I also assumed Ryan and I would be friends for a long while after all this, and knew I'd pay him back once I found a job— at least partially and in increments. It wasn't a private boat, but it was spacious with cushioned seats all around and 2 seats in the middle. The boat was white, with bright red accents and the word "PARASAILING" printed on the side. On the boat was Ryan, Alec, and I, along with 2 male crew members—a driver and someone to help with parasailing—and 2 other girls who appeared to be around our age, if not slightly older. They were sitting at the bow of the boat, flirting with Alec while Ryan and I sat in the back near the motor.

“No. I will not listen to you.” “Okay. I already expected your answer.” Yric took out a bar of chocolate from his pocket. Yric removed the wrap and began munching the chocolate that made Xurden salivate while looking at him. Xurden had a sudden urge to eat also chocolate. But he’s ignoring it because he didn’t want to act friendly around the younger guy. “How long do you think the parade will last?” he asked him a question instead. The younger guy swallowed what was inside his mouth. “I don’t know. It usually took the entire night.”

Jeez, I suddenly remembered, just how can I unsee that? "Hm.. So? It's only reasonable." Caspian shrugged. "He broke an arm! An ARM! A-R-M!" I repeated. "Yeah, and so?" I'm so done with this. "Never mind. How about we go out together?" I suggested. I heard from the Cryx that there was gonna be a Parade in the Primavera Amusement Park, Cryx's family owns that. "Like a date?" Caspian smirked and my sanity exploded like a volcano. "W-What?! A date?! It's not like that! Just shut up Caspian." I denied, flustered.

Zoe's POV All I wanted was peace. All I wanted was to be away to clear my mind. Was that too much to ask? Apparently, yes, it was. Because, as I walked away from the crowd, I noticed riders getting ready for the races with their horses. Lo and behold, Xavier Shaw was there, supporting a mouthwatering rider’s outfit, in his Pack colors. His pack’s Blood Crescent sigil was sewn on his shoulder pads and the front of the jacket, with the number 004 sewn on the back in a large black number.

Sky and the rest of the elite are dressed in black slacks, black boots a cream coloured dress shirt and a blazer in the colour dark orchid – if I call it dark purple I am sure Lidia will give me another lecture about colour theory. Each one wears the pin I gave them on their blazers, a smile on their faces as they help those in the parade with last minute touches before we prepare to leave. 3. The parade was fantastic this year, one of the best I'd seen. Costumed people of all stripes cavorted, marching around us while giant puppets danced and twirled through the air. Everywhere we looked, there was something to catch our attention, to engulf us in the Halloween spirit. Here a skeleton played guitar for a group of succubi, there a clown doll bounced on a pogo stick, while a man in leather pants and a chest harness juggled balls shaped like Jack-O-Lanterns. It was a scene out of Ray Bradbury, and I could tell from the permanent smile on her face that Maddie was eating it up.
