Anne introduced herself with a little embarrassment—Eric’s mother had just seen her steal. “I am Anne…Nice to meet you, Mrs…” She bit her bottom lip uneasily. The woman curled her lips, but it wasn’t a smile. She was that kind of harsh person who looked like would never smile, laugh, or feel happy. But Amelia knew she was a kind person. Horrible people like Ian will never raise such lovely children as Eric and Ella. “Just call me Irene.” Irene reached out her hand and then shook it with Amelia. She then explained, “We are heading to the east, to a place with no wolves. Are you coming with us?”

We had to go through three more towns before reaching the city. The closer I got, the more strange I felt. After passing through three towns we entered a secluded area. There wasn't much going through there, and there was a lot of towering trees around. At the end is a very high wall and gate.

"According to this map, you will reach the city in about forty kilometers," said Professor Alex. Actually the distance of forty kilometers for Eren wasn't that far, but considering that he was now in the desert with scorching heat plus he hadn't eaten or drank since yesterday, Eren doubted whether he would be able to walk that far. Her heart cramped and she felt a sudden connection to the screaming young adult. Another scream, Erin charged in the direction of the outcries as fast as she could, hearing an echo of the heart of the endangered. The moment she reached a barrier that separated this village from the human world, she held her breath and wiggled her legs in the air, pushing her body backward as she came to a halt. She shook her head furiously, not wanting to trespass but the cry for help led her on and she crossed it without a second thought.

With a sudden movement, Erin raised her hand, the silver light from her wrist flaring brighter. The ground trembled again, the energy around her building to a terrifying crescendo. The hunters recoiled, their weapons raised in defense, but Erin’s gaze remained focused, her expression set.

She jumped clean out the window, her black boots thudding into the wet forest soil below, and in the next second she was gone—nothing more than a blur vanishing into the trees. Everyone turned toward Erin. He exhaled slowly and shut his eyes, guilt flickering over his face. Then without a word, he took off after her. ⸻ Elira’s breath was wild as she sprinted through the woods, dodging low branches and tangled roots. The air was thick with pine and frost. By the time Erin caught up to her, she was standing near the edge of the cliff that overlooked the river, her arms folded tightly, her body rigid with fury.

My throat tightened. “The kind of pull she had on men,” Eren continued, running a hand through his beard. “Mabe it was just… her black magic. But I know this. If I had stayed around her long enough, I don’t trust that I would have resisted if she would have tried to make a pass at me.” He shook his head. “So no. You’re not the only sinner in this family.” The car climbed higher, the air thinning, the terraces looming closer. Steam drifted faintly from the hundreds of turquoise mineral pools, giving the place an otherworldly look.

I snap my head towards him, my face turning extremely red, wiping the water off my mouth with the back of my hand. He scoffs at me. "I'm sure Peter won't kill me for that. It's a compliment." "What compliment?" Peter shuffles over to the living room. "Are we leaving now?" Eren grabs the car keys on the cabinet and throws it to Peter. Did I mention he had a thick English accent? It was amazing. "Let's go." Peter walks to the door, and we follow suit. We arrive at a busy bar, Tropical Thunder. My gaze darts on the straw in my cocktail drink as I spin it inside the glass, sitting quietly at the bar.

*****Blue Haven's Pack***** *****Irene's POV**** I waited patiently for my informant deep in the woods. This was because I didn't want Alpha Logan to find out about my plans. It would be terrible if Logan were to find out that I was scooping out information from his opponent. In that case, it was only wise to be as discrete as possible. Just I paced around the woods, I suddenly heard footsteps. Without saying, I smelled the scent of Eron. “Luna, Irene,” the bold voice of Eron called as he approached. I turned towards him at once. Eron is from my brother's pack, and he seemed to be the only person I could actually ask for help.
