Paul Greyrat Death Novels & Stories

I needed to talk to him—really talk. That fall, I went back to Greydale for work. That's when I heard—our old neighborhood got flooded. Tony didn't make it. They said right before the water took him, he yelled out that he was sorry. Sorry to Luca. Sorry to me. Said he finally got why I left. Maybe, at the end, he saw the truth for once. Turns out the man who bought Ryan was a drunk who beat him. Ryan's dead now."

Corentin maintained a suppressed silence while looking at Owen's body. Paul told him in detail about their mission at night, "...I asked Owen to retreat. He didn't and he fought with Ivan. If I had arrived slightly later, he would have been captured alive."
