Lila’s scroll unfurled, hazel eyes sparkling, voice bright, showing pups her sketch. “See, the stones—like our pack, standing tall!” Spark yipped, vibrant. Stars, Lila—shine, lead! Pups cheered, their crowns bold, dawn catching their joy, her courage their guide.

I pretended to have just regained consciousness as I said with a pained expression, "Owen, what happened just now? My stomach really hurts!" Owen patted my back gently, showing a tenderness I had never seen before. His voice sounded choked as he said, "The witch examined you just now. Our pup is gone." I pinched myself and forced out a few tears. Upon seeing this, Owen cupped my face and kissed the tracks of my tears. "Ivy, we'll have another pup. I'll stay by your side until you fully recover." At that moment, a phone rang, again and again.

He walked behind Rex with Firepaw at his side, across the ice plains for a whole day. When he returned, his boots were covered in frozen soil and ice chips. He ran to Luna and held up the small handful of thistle root tendrils clutched in his fist for her to see.

My nails were almost biting on its skin, but I controlled myself to not cause it to be more aggravated than it already was. “Fluffy, stop!” I yelled when I caught its name on the roof. Anya gave that name. Indeed, he was fluffy but a monstrous fluffy pet! I groaned in irritation. “Hmmm! Unicorn, stop!” Still not listening! “Siberian, stop!... Doggy! Dammit, you monster dog, get off me!” My frantic thrashing and kicking beneath the beast was no use. It didn’t give me another chance to scream again when its tongue tried forcing my mouth open. I grabbed a fistful of its fur and used my remaining strength to keep the distance.

His fur sizzled with smoke and a burnt patch of fur was under his jaw. He shook himself and the fur fell to the ground, turning to cinders. The pendant wouldn't let him touch it. His eyes glowed bright as he tried to heal the patch but it didn't work. He looked at me angrily and charged. He was faster than lightning– the Sapphire was enhancing his speed–and I had no idea when he smacked me with his paw. I felt a bone in my neck crack and I was on the floor. In a blur, all I could see were paws and claws going at my skin, tearing my fur and ripping my flesh.

She threw herself into my lap, smelling of grass and sunshine. ‎ ‎"Mama! Did you see? I flew!" ‎ ‎"I saw," I smiled, smoothing her hair. "You're a bird." ‎ ‎"I'm a wolf!" she corrected fiercely, baring tiny, human teeth. "Grr!" ‎ ‎"Terrifying," I agreed. ‎ ‎A rustling in the bushes drew our attention. ‎ ‎A small, silver shape tumbled out of the rhododendrons. ‎ ‎It was a pup. Tiny, clumsy, and covered in soft, metallic silver fur. It tripped over its own paws and rolled onto the grass, letting out a high-pitched yip of frustration.

Thankfully she took right to it and loves her little potty. I pick up his tiny hand and rub my thumb over the back. He’s so damn soft. He’s already got some dark hair and certainly Aurora’s cute nose. I don’t see my features yet but he smells like me all right. “Lucy named Rosie right,” I ask, as she nods. *What do you think,* I ask my wolf. He’s too busy strutting around in my mind, lost in his own world. “I met a pup named Colton at the daycare, I thought that was a pretty cool name,” I say, kind of stuck for any other ideas.

But when I returned to the pack house, I saw Cayden kneeling in the snow-covered yard, shivering uncontrollably. I could hear Lyana and Dexter's laughter coming from inside the house, along with Theron's gentle talking voice. It felt like someone had poured a bucket of ice water over me. My hands and feet were cold as I rushed forward and threw myself over Cayden. "Cayden! Why are you kneeling here? You're sick, and you can't be in the cold!" When Cayden saw me, he finally broke down in aggrieved tears. "Mommy, I didn't break Dexter's pony figurine. Please trust me…"

Mel and Kasey are only half sober. It was already morning when we decided to go home. Cameron carried Clark, the guy can’t even stand up on his own. Mel was helping Landon, since they’re both small. Kasey can walk by himself, thankfully. And I’m assisting Matthew. Clark, Kasey and Landon are riding with Cameron. I’ll have Matthew and Mel on Matthew’s car. After dropping the four in their quarters, Cameron will drive us to our apartment
