I’m Lucette.” “You can call me Mama Metcalf.” The woman walked over to the fridge and placed a brown paper bag inside, its bottom discolored by grease stains. Then she stepped over to the snack machine, dropped in a dollar and punched the keypad, a four-pack of peanut butter cups sliding out and falling into the chute. “Should you be eating that?” Lucette asked. Mama Metcalf plucked at the edges of the package, tearing it open. “What do you mean?”

The relief I see is intriguing. I have a ton of things that need to be done and I hate procrastinating. It's one of my biggest pet peeves, and yet here I am, unable to get up from my seat and actually do them. I watch as Marcy gives her that paperwork for employment to fill out. I can't help staring at her. Her hair falls over her shoulder and she leans down and fills it out, exposing one side of her slender neck.

Marcie sighed dramatically, giving Selene one last suspicious glance. "We're not done here, missy. Expect an unsolicited life lecture during my break!" She grabbed a notepad and headed off with exaggerated flair, leaving Selene shaking her head with a faint smile.

“Mrs. Paige asked me to offer you some food and refreshments… if you follow me, I will take you to the dining room.” I nodded. “Morgan and Marcy, do you want some food, or do you want to stay here meeting each other?” Marcy was quick to answer, I guess we can go and get some food and then come back to get to know each other better… Does that work?” She said sweetly to Morgan, Morgan nodded like a lost puppy, it was almost hilarious.
