"I thought the same thing. That’s why I didn’t want to tell you...not until I was completely sure."
Rowan looked at him again, searching his face with an intensity that made Atlas’s skin prickle.
"You really believe this," he said quietly.
Atlas didn’t hesitate.
"Yes."
Rowan’s jaw tightened, muscles jumping beneath the skin.
"You’re asking me to believe my father killed someone."
"I’m asking you to believe that something isn’t right," Atlas replied, voice steady despite the tremor in his hands. "That’s all."
Rowan looked away, chest rising and falling unevenly. The hallway lights buzzed overhead, indifferent.
