Patel called on Kathleen.
“Ms. Turner,” he said, adjusting his glasses. “Can you explain the role of NADH in the electron transport chain?”
Kathleen straightened up, flipping her hair like that would magically give her the answer. “Uh… it’s… like, it carries electrons? To make ATP or something?”
Mr. Patel sighed. “No. Anyone else?”
My hand went up before I could stop it.
“Mia?” he said, nodding.
“NADH donates electrons to the chain at complex one,” I said. “It gets oxidized to NAD+, and the electrons move through the complexes, pumping protons and eventually driving ATP synthase.”
