Plague-bearers. they're emerging from the forest. Dozens, perhaps hundreds. We believed. we believed we'd readied for this, but. they're different this time. Stronger. Faster. Krishna felt her innards wrench in terror. The plague had already been terrible enough, but now, with the return to life of Vosvak and the darkening of the Citadel, things were spiraling out of hand more quickly than anyone had ever expected.

“Gilda called an hour ago—she says the Monarch’s shifting strategy. He’s moving into the city.” “Meaning?” “He’s bringing the battle here,” Rhett replied. “Winchester, Almonte, all of it.
