Esme’s POV What the hell have I gotten myself into? His hand came up like he was going to push me away, but instead his fingers curled around my wrist, holding me there, and immediately, a growl rumbled through his chest and his eyes turned yellow... "Prey. Prey. Prey." The word wasn’t spoken aloud; it echoed inside my skull, deep and animal and hungry.

My alpha gives a howl and falls to the ground and I instantly use the opening in front of me. Two long leaps and I am inside the camp, jumping at the prey who had shot at us. My teeth close around it's fragile neck, and after a couple of shakes I hear it's neck snap like a dry branch. I let go of the lifeless body, starting to pull the weird skin off. I sniff and lick the weird pale skin that is exposed. It doesn't seem poisonous, so I bite into it, feeling my teeth go through. This prey was much easier than the elk, I have to remember that.

I expected this was just a process of how vampires and Ancient Ones fed, that I was calmed and the pain numbed because of that process. Rakesh's pleased moaning into my neck caused me to feel even more aroused than I was already feeling.
