They were horrible looking.

Before the lost mafia boss could decide what to do, something rippled from beneath the sea. Flinching in surprise, Dawn thought his heart would stop when a head floated just above the surface. He couldn’t see the colour of the hair in the dim lights, but something told him it was the same mermaid from earlier. Once the Mermaids concluded their feeding they knew they’d have to discard the boat and hide the bones. The humans would not suspect they were responsible for a sunken sailboat and they’d get to resume their on-campus lives yet again as if nothing had happened.
