"Where's Sin?" "What?" "Are you deaf?" "Are you stupid?" I retorted. Her scowl turned nastier as I said that. "And to answer your question. I don't know. I'm not his wife." Rolling her eyes, she walked away in utmost bitterness. She was definitely the 'Queen of mean'. On another note, I wondered where Sinister really was.I hadn't seen him In a while. To be honest, I was getting tired of the lack of knowledge from my brother's whereabouts.

For a heartbeat, her own voice broke through, weak, desperate. “Kael, don’t let it” Then the shadow took hold again. Her body convulsed once, violently, before slamming both palms down on the table. The crystal exploded into shards of light that streaked into the walls like veins of lightning. The torches flickered out. Kael moved without thinking, snatching the Queen’s sword from its stand and stepping between her and the spreading shadow that bled across the stone. The air was colder now. Not the cold of night, but of something ancient, crawling back into the world it had been banished from.

"Show them what you are made of." I close my eyes. I reach inside myself. To the place where the shadow once lived. The presence returns. Cold. Ancient. Watching. "Show yourself," I say. The shadow coalesces. A wolf made of pure darkness. Its eyes are voids, empty and endless. "You are the queen," it says. "The one who carries the light." "I am." "You carry a great burden. A great destiny. We have come to witness it." "Then witness." I raise the Sun Blade. Light explodes from it, pure and blinding. The shadow wolf recoils, but it does not disappear.

“Or you will become the proof that even shadows can drown.” The Shadow Alpha clasped her hand without hesitation. Inside him, anticipation bloomed, sharp, dangerous, intoxicating. For the first time since speaking with the Queen, he felt certain of one thing: The ceremony would not end the way she had planned it.

Jade. Her eyes burned in the half-light, not red this time, but something like bruised violet — hunger mixed with something almost, almost like grief. “So,” Jade whispered to the quiet earth, to the old trees that had seen all of this before. “You’ve finally told her what she is.” Her smile curved slow and cold. “Good,” she breathed. “Now she’ll understand why she has to die.” And with that, the Shadow Queen disappeared into the pines — already planning how to break the shield, before the next Moon could rise.

But before she could reach the end of the corridor— The air split open. A jagged tear of darkness appeared ahead, swallowing the light. From within, a shadowed figure stepped through, her presence suffocating. Selene. The Shadow Queen. She wore black armor that seemed to absorb the light, her silver hair falling in perfect waves over her shoulders. Her violet eyes burned with amusement. Lena skidded to a stop. Cassian was at her side in an instant, sword raised. Dorian’s daggers glinted as he positioned himself slightly behind them, his body tense.

Report me. Before I could find the words to respond, a deep voice rose from the edge of the crowd, cutting through the tension with quiet authority. “Shadow magic.” The effect was immediate. Every whisper died, every movement stilled, as though the entire village had been frozen in place by the weight of those two words. All eyes turned toward the old hunter as he stepped forward, his expression grim, his gaze fixed on me with something that felt far too close to recognition. “Long ago,” he began, his voice measured but heavy with unease, “shadow magic belonged to the queens who nearly destroyed the world.”

We all make it to the clearing, but we can see the shadows at the edge of the forest surrounding our campsite. Luna Queen commands, "Everyone to the middle. The shadows start moving closer as if knowing they can consume us at any moment. Luna Queen starts to glow again, but this only pushes the shadow back slightly, and we can tell her light is starting to
