He laughed, a cruel one, cutting through my bones.
“You talk about precious gems as if you are one. And talking about mistakes, don't ever mistake a nobody for a friend.”
The words hit harder than I wanted them to, but I swallowed the sting and forced myself to meet his gaze. “A nobody? You talk about friends like you know valuable ones. Like you have real ones.”
His face darkened instantly, rage crackling like electricity in the air. “Watch your mouth.”
