“The food is on the table. Later, you can tell me what you prefer.”
“Thank you.”
Sitting down at the table, I stared at the plate for a long time before realizing that nausea was rolling over me again. What was this? The food looked fine, and I usually liked this kind of thing, but I had no desire to eat. Trying to swallow a couple of bites ended badly—they were immediately returned to the toilet. Raisa stood over me with a towel, clicking her tongue.
I had to go back to bed because the nausea was now joined by a fever. Very strange symptoms—similar to what Vera had experienced recently—but I was absolutely sure I wasn’t pregnant.
