Selena's POV "Where the hell is she?" Selena slammed a book shut at the register, biting the inside of her cheek. Her phone was dry. No texts. No calls. Not even a damn emoji from Katarina. Days had passed. Since that one frantic call, radio silence. The bell over the bookstore door jingled. She looked up at Liam. But not that Liam. This was the nerdy one. The soft-spoken one who used bookmarks and said “excuse me” even to chairs.

After a long pause and silence, she took a deep breath in then exhaled before continuing with the real reason she had come. “There are spies Cassian, I don’t think you are aware of that yet”, she said flatly as goes on to pick one of the books by John Grisham sitting pretty on the desk, I had just gotten a copy of that a few days ago and barely even had the chance to flip the pages. “I suspect so Selena, I am not that stupid remember”, I shot the words at her but she rolled her eyes and smiled at me like didn’t mean to do it.

I looked down. Then I saw it. Her door was open just a crack. Inside, under her bed—barely visible—a thick old book. Red cover. Frayed edges. It glowed for a second. Faint but real. I stood. "Hey," I said, trying to keep my voice calm. "What’s that?" She froze. "What’s what?" "Under your bed. That book." Her head tilted, eyes sharp. Not like before. Not worried. Watching. "Don’t go through my stuff, Selena."

My eyes snapped open, darting around as they fell on Alpha Severin, King Jared, and Drake. "Where is, brother... alpha Raviel?" I asked shakily. Alpha Severin frowned. "He's unconscious."
