Raven, a sixteen year old girl, walked home from her part-time job at the library. She felt as if someone was watching her. She looked around the near empty streets, seeing nothing. Raven picked up her speed. She should have been home hours ago, but she had gotten caught up in a mystery novel, losing track of time. Her parents will be furious with her once she gets home.

Doubts clouded her mind but she was in desperate need of help; and desperate time calls for desperate measures. “Alright.” Raven replied after a few seconds of silence. Raven was not surprised when she saw Benjamin’s new ride, a Lamborghini truck. She didn’t know much about cars and couldn’t tell what brand it was exactly but she knew it was bloody expensive. Getting into the car, they practically rode in silence all the way. There was a lot on her mind and she couldn’t have been responsive enough if she was being addressed at that moment.

One of the vampires had to have some, but would they give it to me? Then, I heard a tutting from behind me. “Rule one of plotting murder,” Raven said. “Don’t, especially if you’re doomed to fail. The second is don’t be so obvious about it.” I turned to look at her. She looked like she’d just taken a shower. Her eyes glowed with a soft red light. She was wearing another pair of tight leather pants and a camisole shirt under an embellished black corset. She looked as if she had rested and her eyes had a soft glow to them.

Panting heavily, Shawn placed a hand on his heart then turned to glare at Raven. "Stop associating yourself with what I have going on here, Caddel. Fighting a demon is far from my agenda today." Raven said in irritation. "I also don't plan to fight a thousand year old vampire who has no idea how to control herself and always gives in to murderous intents." Caddel scoffed. "You should be on your way back, Raven." Shawn suddenly said as he took his seat again. "I'm not leaving here without Taylor Mason. Unless you'll have to kill me." Raven refused stubbornly.

I lived in the Council Pack which is the smallest yet most elite pack on Celeste island. For years I wasn’t even sure if I had a wolf. I told myself if I didn’t have a wolf then I would move to Beldoore with Aunt Judy. I knew I was going to get my wolf later than everyone else because I’m a half breed. Most werewolves get their wolf around twelve or thirteen. I was fifteen. A late bloomer as my dad would so lovingly put. I was simply happy to have my wolf Selena. She’s a pretty light grey wolf with hints of white especially on her paws and tail. I wish she wasn’t so down and out, but I can’t blame her. The change hasn’t been easy for either of us.

"Do it!" I sprinted toward the maintenance panel, my hands flying over the controls. I didn't need to read the labels; I could *see* the result of every lever I pulled. The pipes hissed and groaned, releasing a thick, blinding curtain of steam into the main tunnel just as the agents rounded the corner. Back in the vault, Leo finished the final line of code. "It’s done! The data is queued. As soon as the main broadcast starts, it’s going to hit every screen in Oakhaven."

She just hasn’t figured out how yet. And now, I’m just as interested in that idea Raven wasn’t too open about her plan. She had whispered it in my ear in passing, and scolded me when I tried to ask her any more. And escape sounds enticing. Rousing. Nothing on Ren’s isle appeals to me, aside for the money, which Raven conspires is a lot. If we figured out a way, I could be out in a year's time, finding sanctuary in another Pack. Maybe the Love Pack. I’ve never seen snow in real life. We simply get bathed in ice every once and awhile.
