I step into the clearing, my silver fur gleaming under the blood-red moon. I shift. Bones crack, fire surges through my spine, and in seconds I stand in human form—Anika, reborn, radiant with the goddess’s mark etched into my skin. My eyes glow like twin suns.
“You tried,” I say, voice low and steady. “You failed.”
