I just had to dedicate the time to explain that I wasn't their Alpha's wife. It was still hard to believe that I was alive. And now that I was staring at the mirror, clad in clean clothes, I was more than shocked. My hair was dark, and this one was blonde. These features were sharper. Bolder. I didn't have my brown eyes anymore. I was now staring back at blue frosty ones. My hands flew to my mouth immediately. I was shaking all over. “What is this?” I whispered. “Your second chance,” a voice in my head whispered. “You are now Alara.”

He also promised me the best salary package. Being personally recruited by Felix was a huge honor. Within days, everyone in the city was talking about it. However, to Nancy, I was merely a lapdog who flattered Felix for money. I initially wasn't planning on accepting Felix's honor. In my past life, that so-called electronic asset vault didn't last long before it was breached. The lead hacker in charge of the tech didn't earn a single cent. On top of that, they became a target of the thieves and Felix. In the end, they died a horrible death.

"Lottie, it's just us here. The tent's zipped up, totally safe." Russell Odom's voice was smooth and suggestive as he wrapped his arms around me, his fingers brushing at my clothes. I shivered, spinning to face him. The memory of my death burned in my mind, fueling a hatred stronger than my fear. In my past life, those same words had lured me into trusting him, believing the wilderness hid us from prying eyes. I gave in, only for two thugs to stumble upon us.

She screamed in agony as she lit up in flames and then being restored again to normal, only to be burnt again and the cycle to continue. "What did you do?" Samantha asked turning to her best friend who had tears in her eyes. "I erased her father's memory about her. For him, he had no hybrid daughter." Leah said stoically before she went to hug her sisters. "The same goes for her mother and everyone who knew her. There was no Kimberly Black to ever exist." Leah spoke in pure rage as they heard her screams but ignored it. "It feels empty without her. It should be four of us not three. She's hurt and I can feel it." Leah said sobbing.

I muttered to him while pressing my eyes tightly together to keep the tears from rolling. "No, do not say that. This is still your home," my father responded and I forced out a sigh just to make him think I would be fine. It was all beginning to seem too good to be true anyway. It had never been heard that someone who had been banished had returned and was accepted back into the pack again. My healing gift did not even matter at that point since I had not been formally summoned back to help the Alpha. It was all just luck. What did I even imagine was going to happen after Alpha Gideon was completely restored? The thought made me scoff bitterly.

Callum was struggling to concentrate on the information Owen sent him. All he could think about was his mate. She was beautiful. She was alive. He hadn’t expected her to agree to the change right away. But as soon as she said yes, had bitten her. "She foiled her father, she rejected the Alpha, she took her inheritance, and she secured a safe, isolated home. All in less than twenty-four hours. That's a rebirth if I ever saw one." Rebirth. The word echoed in my mind. It felt like that. The woman in the hallway had been a stranger wearing Calla’s face.
