Blackwater Val

Blackwater Val

Her Monstera deliciosa, or fruit salad plant, the lady’s-slipper orchids and walking irises, and her personal favorite, the night-blooming cereus she raised—nurturing and coaxing the gangly-looking plant along painstakingly, year round, just to see it open its big snowy petals for one solitary night before closing itself at dawn again for another full calendar cycle. “Hope you don’t have allergies,” Richard said, watching the sea of reed stalks and grasses ebb and flow with the breeze. In the distance he could make out a corner of the gabled roof of Shaw-Meredith House, and the square-hatted turret tower, barely visible off in the high woods toward town. “Nope. Not since I was a kid.” “Good

Being Yours

Being Yours

She’d have to work late and go over the documents herself - even though she was sure her chief accountant wouldn’t have missed anything untoward. Bevis, too, saw where the King was headed, but unlike Electra he was not unduly worried. After all, that particular orchid meant nothing special to anyone except himself and Electra. The King stopped beside a staging area where a huge network of branches played host to a lemon, white and brown plant. Rather inconspicuous colours, as far as orchids were concerned. What made it stand out, however, were the very unusual, long, twisted side petals. ‘Ah, you have a very good eye, Your Royal Highness,’ Bevis said. ‘This is Paphiopedilum philippinense. As

The Alpha's Wife, The Lycan King's Obsession

The Alpha's Wife, The Lycan King's Obsession

Had the red-haired woman given them names? Gianna closed her eyes and tried to recall those images from that night. The flowers had been unusual, with petals that seemed to shimmer in the torchlight. Some had been purple with gold centers. Others had been white with veins of silver running through them. There had been vines with leaves that felt almost warm to the touch. The red-haired woman had pointed to one in particular. A flower with deep red petals and a black center that looked almost like an eye. "This one is called Heartbloom," she had said, her voice reverent. "It can heal the deepest wounds. It can cure poisons. It can restore what has been broken."

The Way of the Dragon

The Way of the Dragon

He was either very confident about his own ability or there was a strict city law that was able to guarantee the safety of all its inhabitants. One customer after another frequented the stall as Zephyr scanned the offerings. He found nothing of interest until his gaze stopped at the seemingly wilted plant. The plant was so dry that it looked to be beyond saving. He stared at the plant and he felt a chill run up his spine after detecting a faint light swirl around it. Only those with strong mindfulness were able to see the faint light. He fixated at the plant and discovered there were exquisite patterns etched on the plant, which offered an air of mystery. “How much is this?” asked Zephyr, po

REBIRTH: This time I will be a Witch!

REBIRTH: This time I will be a Witch!

The only difference is its color. Instead of yellow flowers, this mistletoe has a reddish one, which is strongly related to the place where it grows. Since these mistletoes germinate within the Rhapsody Swamp where the blood of countless warlocks and sorceresses were spilled during the war, its petals were dyed red. Despite the war happening for a long time now, the mistletoe that grows in that place still had that same reddish color. As if it was dyed red by fresh blood.
