I glanced at his name tag and saw his name—Martin Lowell. I couldn't help but let out a sigh. This was different from what I imagined. But it didn't matter. Good would always prevail over evil. I'd find a breakthrough eventually. I went home for some sleep. When I woke up, it was already noon. My wife, Aleah Webster, had cooked several of my favorite dishes and called me to the table. Our two children, still in elementary school, sat at the table too. Looking at their innocent faces made my heart ache.

she barked out and led them. Adalia bit down on her trembling jaw. She couldn’t show fear, not to her men. She held her sword in front of her as she tiptoed around the leafy forest. But when she heard the sound of a branch break underneath someone’s weight, Adalia went into attack mode. She swung her sword forward and heard the loud clang of two metals meeting. “Adalia?” It was Randi. His clothes were torn and bloodied. “Randi, dear God,” she pulled her brother into an embrace, a silent prayer of thanks escaping her trembling lips. “Where is Novia?”

She listens with her whole face, eyes wide, lips parted like the words might escape if she doesn’t hold them inside. I pull out a book with colorful illustrations, one I know she’ll like. She’s curious, always asking why, always pointing at the tiniest detail on the page that most people would miss. Reid, not so much. He’s Caleb in miniature, restless, impatient, always chasing movement instead of words. But that’s fine. I like the challenge of finding something for him too, even if it ends up being a book about wolves who fight dragons just so he can roar and act it out while I read. Taking note of the books for Rose, that I will take along with me when I visit home.

Inside, I was greeted by a mess of bloodied chicken feathers on the floor. Ruby, wrapped up in a full-body cast, sat beside Sean. Sean's skin was bumpy and raw, like plucked chicken flesh, still oozing blood where his feathers had been. His limbs had morphed into something resembling chicken wings and feet. I could not help but chuckle as I addressed Ruby. "Wow, Ruby. It looks like you've lost big time in this bet." Ruby's eyes, previously calm, blazed with fury at the sound of my voice.

REBORNED EPISODE 1 : The beginning of the end I Flashback 15 Years ago.... "grrrghn" the alarm rang. I sleepily snaked my tiny hand toward the ringing alarm and stopped it. I woke up , rubbed my eyes and jumped out of the bed. I remembered that today is my school parents and children sports day. yo! I can't wait to see mum be the winner. I ran into the bathroom like someone chased by monsters and freshened up till I jumped into the dinning room.

She handed him her paper and accepted the one on which he had written. She was waiting for the man's response as he read what she had written, so she didn't read what was written on the paper he gave her just yet. As he read what was on her page, he grinned briefly before frowning. "No sexual contact whatsoever, and we must have separate bedrooms." He read the first one on her list. Her face turned red because he actually read what was written there. His gaze turned to her as if he were teasing her again. "So you're assuming already that we will be living together under the same roof?"

That is the whole speech, Reed in that same tight script. I clutched at the book, my heart pounding. This wasn't just a textbook. This was personal. Valuable. The sort of thing you didn’t abandon unless it meant something. Why would he do this? I entered the room, locked the door and sat on my bed, fingering the leather cover. Its pages smelled old and papery, and something else. Cedar, maybe. The same odor that was all over Reed’s office.

“I could hear the mockery in his tone but ignored it. I was peeling the seal of the letter, and getting to the main paper body I discarded the envelope casing to the side.
