I thought back to five years ago when I foolishly rebelled against my parents, even cutting off ties with them. Now, here I was, battered and bruised, left with nothing but regret. Tears welled up in my eyes as I realized the weight of it all. Seeing me cry, Titus, who had been visibly angry moments ago, suddenly panicked. "Wait, you're really crying? When I got your text yesterday, I rushed back. Who hurt you? Tell me, I'll make them pay! "Mom and Dad are downstairs. It's been five years. They've really missed you."

Regret washes over his face, etching lines of sorrow and remorse. "You're right, Nora. You were never meant to be caught in the crossfire of our rivalry," Jay admits, his voice filled with regret. "I should have protected you, shielded you from the pain and the choices that were forced upon you." Nora gazes at him, her eyes filled with a mixture of sadness and longing. The regret in Jay's expression mirrors the tumultuous emotions swirling within her own heart. "I never wanted any of this," Nora whispers, her voice barely audible. "I never wanted to be a pawn in your family's feud. I just wanted to live my own life, make my own choices."

Because in the end, when they’re gone, regret can become a heavy burden— one that’s hard to erase from our hearts and minds. So while we still have the chance, let us not waste the opportunity to show our love and appreciation to the people who matter to us. Because in the end, the most painful kind of regret is realizing that you didn’t do everything you could to keep them, to show them how much you loved them while you still had the chance. It's better for us to start a new life now and consider yesterday's events as life experiences and memories."

I smiled back, thankful, and then I walked away. I did not look back or hold on. I was like a quiet breeze, gone from this world.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to... I… I just can't believe Maria is really gone just like that," Richard said, laughing bitterly. "It's all my fault. I'm the one who ruined the good life she should have had. If I had cared more about her and treated her better… If I had been honest sooner and told her everything… Then maybe, things wouldn't have ended like this." He clenched his fists. People always said you should not wait until you lose something to regret it, but he had always believed that would never happen to him and Maria.

The servant led her back inside while he remained outside, his face tightened back into the same hard mask. "REGRET". The word whispered inside his mind. A bitter laugh caught in his chest. Not yet.
