Regular Show High Score Novels & Stories

I respond, giving him a congratulatory high five. As we eagerly wait for his score, anticipation fills the air. The judges deliberate, their eyes scrutinizing every move he made during the breathtaking performance. Finally, the moment arrives, and the announcer reveals the score. A resounding cheer erupts from the crowd as we discover that he has been awarded a perfect 5 out of 5!

Warning: some scenes have brutal languages and violence. Read at your own risk --------------------------- Dokyeom has been playing the same game on his phone for almost a month. He just couldn't stop, not until he beat his friend's high score. As if miracle only happens once, he finally fulfilled his impossible dream tonight. "I BEAT HOSHI'S HIGH SCORE! YEEEEEY!" Jumping up and down, he roamed around the mansion to find Hoshi, so he could boast his achievement. But his pal was nowhere to be seen.

We’ve had this reservation every Thursday night for the last 15 years. Yeah. We’re old. “Alright, what’re we playing tonight?” Hakeem asks, pulling the deck out of the box and giving it a shuffle. Tomas groans. “Can’t do much thinking tonight. Five Card Draw, no wilds?” Hakeem nods, pulling out the jokers while Gael passes out chips. $20 each to start. We usually make it through ten rounds, depending on how much shit-talking we get into.

Felix asked. The gatekeeper gestured toward the screen, where the numbers had reset to zero. "My record is an anger score of 100 and a damage score of 70. You'll need to match that again since you've already maxed out your anger. As for damage, you need to surpass my score by at least one point to win. If you end up with the same numbers as me, I still win. Got it?" Nerissa and the others had already vanished. Felix took a deep breath.

Loose out on our high scores from yesterday. Although it was just a game I didn't want to lose. Didn't want to step down from the high horse I'd climbed yesterday. "1 minute more! Just a minute!" "Serena," "Do it." I breathed, "Put in the code, 3542. 3542!" He typed immediately, fingers fast as he pressed enter. Sealing our fate. My breath caught. Pulse slowing down to a minimum as we watched. Few seconds passed. More seconds passed. John getting ready to take up his microphone again. To yell out. Scream the end of the game and the winner of the task.

If we could survive every scenario and collect the legendary 9,999 points, we’d be revived. The moment I heard “revive,” I jumped in. “So how many points do we get for finishing one round?” Elaine sighed softly. “It depends on your Fear Value. If your score hits ninety-nine, you only earn one point. If it reaches one hundred… you die.” As the name suggests, the Fear Value measures how scared you get. Experienced players usually manage to keep it under sixty. Newbies like us, though, usually don’t get that lucky. I rubbed my chin and asked, “Then what if someone clears it with zero Fear Value? Would that mean a hundred points?”

My score was added. Now, I have forty-two points displayed on the screen. I am the one leading. Well. I shouldn't rest that easily. People like Loretta won't stop until they win. She won't stop. She will use whichever way possible. Even if it means taking an illegal route. She would do anything.

The day before the scores came out, Yvette showed up at the estate. She waved around her practice tests with ridiculously high predicted scores like she'd already won. Govind sat on the couch while she practically glued herself to him. "Govind, I'm definitely getting a 1560," she said sweetly. "I'm gonna be the city's top scorer." Then she looked at me, covering her mouth in fake shock. "Oh, Jovie, it sucks you missed the SAT. But it's okay. When I take over Jevan Corp, you can work there as a janitor. I'll even pay you double."

“Twenty-eight…” Tess looked at hers and cried harder. “I only got fifteen…” Jax smirked at his. “Fifty.” Kai laughed loudly. “Sixty-two.” Noah looked horrified. “How did you even—” Kai shrugged. “Busy day.” Lena felt sick. People were being rewarded for surviving horror. Like this was a game show. Like suffering had a score. Mira stared at her points without emotion. Zane didn’t react at all. Elara looked physically disturbed by hers.

He was really excited when he reached that milestone--that score had been tops for over a year. "Guys! I think I'm going to beat the high score!" he had announced breathlessly. Ken and I promptly stopped our pool contest and came over to watch him. Not only did he beat the top score, but he kept right on going for nearly twenty more minutes. It was really impressive, and it was almost as exciting for us to watch him do it as it was for Toby to have such an incredible game. When he finally lost his last life, we all let out a groan. That brought my mother into the den.
