Eve pointed to a small stack of books on top of the shelf in the corner of the room. “Which one would you like?” He asked Eve as he picked up the books. “My mommy and me.” Eve answered. That one was her favourite. Lincoln flicked through the books until he found the one with a bear on the cover with a little cub with My mommy and me. Eve scooted over and patted the bed beside her. Lincoln went and sat on the spot Eve made for him.

The only thing I had with me when I was captured. I flipped the pages open going through my rough sketches. Mostly scenery of what I could remember from before the pet store, which granted, wasn’t a lot. As I kept going I found a sketch of Amethyst. Just a portrait I drew, and a few doodles. The book wasn’t very full, but the amount of time I could get my hands on a pencil or a pen was rare. I kept scanning pages, when I saw movement in my doorway and looked up. Rowen was standing there with his arms folded leaning on my door jam. I had no idea how long he had been there.

Reagan began. "During cremation, something happened," He went ahead to explain in detail all that happened when he burnt the bodies of the attackers. Everyone listened with shock, panic, and attention. "During my research, I came across this..." He reached into the folds of his tunic and produced a worn leather-bound book, "The Ashkai," he declared, enjoying their reactions. At least, they all felt just how he felt when he found out. "These are myths, Reagan," Kellan scoffed, waving his hand dismissively, "And even if we were to believe this, how did they come about? And why attack our pack?"

The same way when he kept quiet when Hazel and his father embarrassed me. I shook my head, trying to not flare up in public. “What made you think that this would be helpful for the festival? Don't give me the flimsy reason that this would be helpful for us.” “I…I thought…” he started but I cut in. “What? Every member of the book club is gay?” I asked, sarcasm laced in my voice. “Arian, don't misunderstand this.” I scoffed. I shouldn't misunderstand what is clear like crystal. Is he kidding me right now?

Reagan asks. “Nothing new,” I say, not wanting to say anything in front of the Prince. I don’t know him, and he was right that I don’t know anything about vampires, so I don’t trust him, even if Reagan’s sister sent him to check on her. And that doesn’t sit well either. “Let’s get you settled,” I say. “Do you need help with those, Meadow?” Reagan asks her, pointing to the books. “Thank you, no. I’ve got them. Maeve is going to flip when I call her and show these to her.”
