Blessing Them With My Death
"Adeline, you came back to see me, didn't you? I miss you so much. In the next life, please come back as my daughter again. I promise I'll make it up to you. I'll love you the way I should have this time."
I looked down at their tearful, guilt-ridden faces and felt nothing.
My body had begun to fade, growing increasingly transparent. I lifted my head, unwilling to look back one more time.
This life had already been far too painful. I wouldn't go through it again.
I murmured, "Goodbye, Mom. Goodbye, Dad. Let's never cross paths again."
