Vivianne exclaimed, and shortly after, she slammed her head on the counter, not caring if she had everyone's attention. She wanted to forget the pain... Everything. But she couldn't. Her fingers twisted together nervously. “You’ll understand soon,” I said simply, giving her a small smile. I waved to Jax and some other men and they followed me inside. When we were alone, I looked them in the eye. “Damian,” I said, my voice steady. “He was my mate. My ex-mate.” They didn’t act surprised. “I need revenge,” I continued. “He tossed me aside like I was nothing. He publicly humiliated me But now? I want him to suffer.”

"That's not true. I enjoyed last night. One of the best sex I've ever had. Why don't we do something then? Why do you want?" I creased my brows in confusion. "What do you mean by what do I want? If there's anything I want right now, that will be to take revenge on my ex-husband and ex-best friend. I want to be the reason they burn to the ground." I clenched my fist afterward. I don't want to be pitiful. That's how I've always felt my whole life. All I want is to make them pay for the hurt and humiliation. "Good. That I like. “Revenge.” Her eyes widened. “Revenge?” she repeated softly. I nodded. “Mhm. I could help you get revenge on your ex-husband for everything he did to you.” She just stared at me silently for a long time. Then she looked away, her voice trembling as she spoke. “No,” she said. “I don’t want that. I don’t want anything to do with him. I don’t want revenge. I just want to move on from this.”

It was scarier and I didn’t want to mess with that. "Sean you visited the inn?" I wanted to know if it was him then I think one of my worries will be less. "Oh so they told you but I don't care. Amelia, do you want to know what is going to happen next?" I nodded my head wiping my tears praying that Sean would calm down and listen to me. "I am going to take revenge for what you did. And I am going to do it openly because I am not cheap like you to pretend like you are in love and then betray me."

I turn to my fiancé and wrap my arms around his thick neck, making him calm down. "It's in the past. I've practically forgotten about it." He frowns, "How? How can you not be so angry by them? How can you not let what they did effect you?" I peck his lips, "because if I did become angry, they would have won. They did those horrible things to break me. What better revenge is there than to not be broken and be whole instead. They would feel like they failed. So I try to not let them hinder the good things in my life. That is my revenge on them Xander." I whisper. I peck his lips and walk outside.

If I soften too early, if I fold in the face of a man’s sorrow, I may hand him the leverage he needs to undo everything. I cannot let that happen. I will test him the way the law will test him: with facts, witnesses, and records. If he truly wants to repair this, he will accept that scrutiny. Revenge is a defensive strategy. It is the only language available to someone who was rendered invisible in a previous life. I sit on the bed and breathe, counting the small practicalities. That is the work I have to do. The rest… the personal wishing, the hunger for a version of the man I loved… has to be managed and contained.

They said revenge is a dish best served cold and I fully agree with that statement. Sometimes one needs to wait for the right time to get their revenge. Just as I did with Olivia, making her think that she has won and that everything in her life is going according to plan. Then I would appear and hit her where it hurts the most.
