"Go and get changed." "You're the one who broke into my suite!" Adira retorted, her eyes flashing with a spark of defiance that caught me off guard. Without waiting for a response, she spun on her heel and bolted back into the safety of the washroom, the door clicking shut. I stood there in the center of the room, my fingers tracing the back of my head where the pain had been so clear only seconds before. "Why am I seeing these glimpses?" I murmured to the empty air. "She isn't some magical being. She’s nothing but an Omega, my nephew claims to adore."

And yet it was. Across from him, Gluttony stared down at the artifact now resting in his hands. The Book of Rebirth. Its cover shifted constantly between black and white, the colors moving like opposing tides colliding against one another. Faint symbols flickered across the surface, appearing and vanishing as if the book itself was still rewriting its own existence. The energy radiating from it was immense. It was balanced and at the same time unstable. Gluttony swallowed slowly. “I… don’t think this thing likes being touched,” he muttered. Tyrel, standing beside his lover Caius, glanced down at the book nervously. “Then maybe you should stop touching it.”

“One night. That’s all it took to shatter everything I thought I knew. One night in a hotel room with a stranger who saw too much. One night when I thought I’d disappear afterward. But one night became a thread. A thread became a story. And the story became a revolution.” She closed the book and exhaled. It wasn’t an ending. It was the next chapter waiting to be written.

I slid inside, the leather cold against my skin, and the tinted glass sealed me away from the world. I pressed my forehead against the window, watching the city blur past. My reflection stared back at me—red-eyed, broken, barely recognizable. And for the first time, I let my tears fall freely. I thought of the girl I used to be. The girl who dreamed. The girl who believed in family. The girl I was now—a girl forged in betrayal. After a while, the assistant tapped my shoulder, snapping me from my thoughts. His voice was calm, detached. “We’ve arrived.”

There was nothing, just another cluster of trees and a patch of ground covered in frost. Jordan frowned. “You’re sure?” Revan nodded once and stepped toward the biggest tree in the clearing. Its trunk was wide and twisted, the bark dark as ash. He laid his hand on it, and for a second, nothing happened. Then the tree began to glow, faint lines of light tracing through the bark like veins. The ground hummed beneath my feet. I took a step back. The trunk split open like a door. Warm light spilled out, soft and golden. A woman stepped through.

The warmth from the fire didn't really ease the uneasy feeling growing inside me. Taking a deep breath, I opened the book. Each page turn felt like stepping back into a past I wanted to forget. The flames continued to dance, casting a flickering light that seemed to play along with the emotions swirling within me. I turned another page, the words becoming guides through a landscape of recovery I wasn't sure I was ready to navigate. Memories, like shadows, crept in as the fire crackled. “Years before my mother died in the raid.” And that was it. I didn't return to my past immediately, I was still stuck in the dirty place in the unknown forest, and my thirst for water increased greatly. I was waiting patiently for the moon goddess to perform her magic, it meant a lot to me, seeing those traitors with a better plot to get rid of them this time. I failed in the past, I wasn't going to fail in the present, this time. “Today marks the second month, sixteen days of your death,” the fairy woman began. “You shall reincarnate before the month ends .”

That vision… or dream… or prophecy, whatever it was, it hadn’t just been a nightmare. I could still smell the blood. Still hear the little girl’s sobs. Still feel the sting of the icy wind from that ominous hill of bones. Still heard the clanging of metal swords. And the whispers… They weren’t fading. They lingered in the corners of my mind like echoing chants in a forgotten tongue. I needed answers. I staggered to my drawer, pulled out a book with trembling hands, I scribbled everything I could remember—details, emotions, fragments of the whispers—everything. My hand moved furiously, like something else was guiding it.

My eyes immediately landed on the disarray of belongings scattered around—a half-folded sweater draped over a chair, a pen precariously close to rolling off the edge of the desk, and a small leather book shoved clumsily behind a lamp. As I stepped closer, curiosity got the best of me. I pulled the book out, brushing away a thin layer of dust that had settled on top. It was a diary—Reya's diary. My heart dropped. I opened it carefully, flipping through the pages filled with notes from class, doodles of flowers and strange symbols, and the margins packed with her thoughts—snippets of poetry, quotes she adored, and random observation
