Pen & Passion
I took the mic, glancing at the rows of people like friends, editors, readers… and somewhere in the back, Joaquin.
“I used to think stories had to be perfect to matter,” I began. “That characters needed to be fearless, flawless, larger than life. But now I know… it’s the broken parts that make them human. The fear, the doubt, the courage to stay anyway. That’s what makes a story worth telling.”
Applause rippled through the room. My chest tightened, not from nerves, but gratitude.
When I stepped down, Jessy hugged me so tightly I nearly lost my breath. “You did it! You didn’t even cry!”
