My professor thought it was absolutely amazing that I'd already been exposed to the media so it would be easier to get the public to be interested in my book. I was in the process of writing the book. It was a very emotional aspect of my life, and I decided to share it with the world. My story is about a girl who grew up in an orphanage, and everyday she'd wait for her parents to come get her, but by the end of the day when no one showed up, she'd be disappointed. Until one day she gave up hope, and so her dreams became all about getting out safely, and trying to forget about her past. It was about my story, only with different characters and names, and knowing that people would be inspired

I took the mic, glancing at the rows of people like friends, editors, readers… and somewhere in the back, Joaquin. “I used to think stories had to be perfect to matter,” I began. “That characters needed to be fearless, flawless, larger than life. But now I know… it’s the broken parts that make them human. The fear, the doubt, the courage to stay anyway. That’s what makes a story worth telling.” Applause rippled through the room. My chest tightened, not from nerves, but gratitude. When I stepped down, Jessy hugged me so tightly I nearly lost my breath. “You did it! You didn’t even cry!”

The touch was electric, sending a cascade of golden warmth through the bond. "You survived a basement," he said, his voice a low, rough rumble. "You survived Richard. You survived the silver-glass. You stood in front of an army and healed a monster." His thumb brushed my lower lip, lingering there. "Aria, the truth cannot break you. You have already been broken and put yourself back together. Thank you for showing me I wasn’t.” I feel my chest tighten as she scrolls to another message. “I’m a man who controlled my wife without realizing it. Your book opened my eyes. I’m in therapy now. We’re trying to rebuild.” “Amelia,” I say softly, pulling her closer. She keeps scrolling, showing me message after message. Thousands of them, each one a story of pain finding purpose, of survival becoming strength. Her hand trembles slightly on the trackpad.

I sigh. He would, everyone leaves in the end. Who would want to have someone like me in their life? Ryland caresses my cheek. "Gracie, we all have our demons and scars. We all have our secrets and our reasons for being broken. It doesn't mean we need to go through life alone." I feel the tears in my eyes as he said the words to me. It is evident that he has his own struggles too. He is also fighting his personal demons. "Something tells me you haven't had an easy life either," I say softly.
