“You called twenty-one Keepers. Even the Silent One agreed?” Althea didn’t show surprise, though it was true: the Silent Keeper almost never attended gatherings. Her circle was ancient and isolationist, rumored to deal in mind-quieting spells that could make a person forget their own name. “She agreed,” Althea said. “And the Broken Keeper?” someone else asked, voice low. Althea’s gaze sharpened. “She agreed as well.” A murmur moved through the group because the Broken Keeper was the one most circles feared, the one whose power had ruptured once and never fully healed, leaving unpredictable surges and scars on everything she touched.

Alexander caught her . “What did it say?” She didn’t answer at first. Then, quietly: “It’s a choice. One or the other. I can’t have both.” He stared at her, jaw clenched. “Then we change the ending.” But the ending had already begun. In the shadows beyond the vault, someone was watching them. Not a ghost, not a keeper. But a man with a sigil burned into his wrist—the Broken Flame, long thought dead. A rogue faction of the old society.

“But they are here. We need to move. Now.” Before I could process that, another figure rushed in. Massimo. His face was even worse. “There is more,” he said, struggling to catch his breath. “Someone else has breached the estate. Not Rinaldi’s men. Someone else.” A cold chill ran down my spine. “What do you mean someone else?” I demanded. “He is killing everyone he sees,” Massimo said, his voice trembling. “No hesitation. No mercy.” My stomach dropped. Who the hell was that?

A man's voice. Breaking.

I hate disgusting, cowardly men like that. “I said shut up! Leo has already taken care of that man!” Rose snapped, her brow furrowed. (I should have cut off his genitals and...) Crash! Rose stared at the mirror, now shattered into pieces before her, breathing heavily and glaring. “Your British accent really makes me sick! Next time I’ll lock you up, so you don’t disturb my enjoyment of this comfortable, clean city.” After that, her expression turned flirty again. “At least I like this outfit.” Her eyebrows furrowed as she felt a stinging pain in her knuckles. “I hate pain,” she grumbled irritably. “And blood. I hate blood.”

If I don't hit something that doesn't break right now, I'll be the one who ends up broken. If I am not already.

Abe stared expressionlessly at the fallen Breaker. The dark aura that surrounded the Dark God’s Divine Servant was no more. The little assassin was severely battered. His chest was a mess, and several of his ribs were broken. His heart had been completely obliterated, and if it wasn’t because of his special constitution, he would have long given up the ghost.

I guess it was all in my head, I suddenly didn't feel like being around her anymore. I stood up, nodded my head at her and went out the front door. I just kept following my feet to wherever they were taking me, especially since it was away from Anne. I guess it was my time to get drunk, because I ended up in a bar. I know its not healthy to drink in the morning and all, but I had to get over this heart break. ************** Nine bottles later and I was already telling the guy waiting the bar all the problems I'd been through in life. It was 8:30am. "I have to go check on Noel.." I mumbled. I got up from bed and brushed my teeth and headed out of my room. I stopped in my tracks when I noticed Hazel sleeping peacefully on the couch in the living room with a book in her hand. "Did she fall asleep while reading?" I smiled and walked towards her. On my way, I ended up bumping into the marble vase on the table beside her and it shattered on the floor with a loud clank. Surprised by the loud noise, Hazel woke up and stared at me, and then at the floor where the broken pieces laid.
