Lisa gasped along with half the crowd as the two of them collided and one was thrown completely off his horse. She didn’t even know the rules, she realised but she could guess that being unseated was probably not a good move. A man climbed up a small ladder and put an ‘X’ next to one of the names and crossed another out completely. They watched as the next round followed and then the next. Two new riders prepared themselves. One on a bay, one on a grey horse. Mira squealed suddenly and lisa realised that the rider on the bay was Ridley. He rode up to their box and Mira leaned out and gave him a small piece of fabric that he kissed dramatically and tucked into his armour.

The other werewolves managed to get Su to join them, even though she continued to turn around and growl at Rider every few moments, and she headed off into the woods with them. Rider was still breathing, but he wasn’t getting up. He had gashes all over his chest and neck, and his face was mangled. “I’m going to go look for a healer,” Slate announced, remembering his previous mission. “Thank you, cuz,” Rider said. “I knew I could count on you.” “For Jack,” Slate clarified, and then he leaped over Rider and headed off in search of someone who might be able to save his fated mate’s brother.
