The earth began to split apart. The Guardian roared. “MOVE!” Everyone scattered. The ground beneath Elena collapsed. She dropped into darkness. “ADRIAN!” His hand reached for hers. Their fingers touched for one second. Then she was gone. “ELENA!” Adrian screamed her name as the darkness swallowed her. He tried to follow. The Guardian caught him with one enormous hand. “No.” “Let me go!” “You will die.” “I don't care!” “You will not save her by dying.” Adrian fought against the Guardian's grip.

“What?” “Your Luna ceremony.” Her mouth fell open. “Tomorrow.” Her eyes widened, a smile spreading across her face. “Carlos...” She wrapped her arms around me. “Don’t make me regret it.” She pulled away, shaking her head quickly. “You won’t.” Matt slammed forward so hard my wolf flashed behind my eyes. ‘You’re actually going to do this.’ ‘Yes.’ ‘After everything she did? After she helped you destroy our mate?’ I clenched my teeth.

The thing that stood between me and freedom. Jax’s grip on his dagger tightened, his gaze sharpening. Then the ground beneath our feet shifted. Not a tremor. Not a collapse. Something beneath the stone was moving. I barely had time to turn before the floor split open and the Guardian rose from the depths like a living monument to violence and time.

I called her by a different name, wanting to touch her, but she flinched and moved away like I was some kind of devil— Though I am. “I promise I will protect you, love you, cherish your whole being. I will never make you sad again. I will stand by you in anything you do. Can you believe me and allow me to be your guardian?” I ask with caution in my voice. She scoffed, “Guardian? Don't you think that word is too heavy for you?!” She looked up angrily and my breathing couldn't help but quicken, her eyes were swollen and red, her eye looked at me with disgust and anger.

So she could wear them anytime. They didn’t waste any time and ran through the gates. As soon as they arrived there, the two fierce looking guards were already knocked out. With the amount of sleeping powder in the magnificent fireworks display, even the strangest warrior will be knocked out. But it seemed like Crystal and Oliver forgot one person. “Our guests are already leaving? The fireworks display is still on full display though. What’s the rush?” Oliver looked at Kian and the wings behind his back. I really couldn’t believe he’s also a dragon. Is that why he was able to conceal his powers?

It was better if she kept her distance because I didn’t want to have a moment of weakness and mistake her for my Azura. I nodded slowly. “They’re chosen to protect the balance between creation and ruin.” “That’s the version meant for children.” Something uneasy twisted in my stomach. “What’s the real version?” Kael’s gaze lifted to mine again. “The Guardians were never meant to destroy ruin,” he said quietly. “They were created to contain it.”

The girl slowly rose to her feet. Her fear was gone. In its place stood quiet determination. A wooden staff formed in her hands, woven from living vines and glowing leaves. The Seven-Star Crystal floated into the air. A fourth star ignited with brilliant green light. A warm voice echoed across the clearing. "The Fourth Guardian has awakened." The forest itself seemed to breathe. Every flower bloomed at once. Every tree straightened proudly. Animals emerged from hiding, surrounding the young Guardian without fear. She looked at me with uncertain eyes.
