“Unless you’re arguing with me, I would beg to differ.” He teased, making me laugh as he opened the door.
Inside, the cabin smelled faintly of cedar and pine. There was a small table already set, two plates, candles unlit, a bottle of wine, and a single rose in a glass jar.
It wasn’t lavish. But it was thoughtful.
And somehow, that unnerved me more than anything else.
