He sent the rest of the pack off for lunch, but Rowan hung back with me to drill disarming techniques and quick incapacitation strikes.
“Remember what I said earlier about leveling the field?” he asked once everyone else had cleared out.
I nodded. “Yeah.”
“Good. In movies they’ll tell you going for the throat, eyes, or balls is cheap and unfair, right? Dirty fighting, cowardly.”
I shrugged. “I guess.”
“That’s complete bullshit. When you’re in a real fight and your life’s on the line, there are no rules. You hit that bastard wherever and whenever you get the chance.”
