The water slides down my throat and settles the leftover adrenaline in my chest better than the night air ever could. “Ah, that’s better.” I toss him back the almost-empty bottle. Reed sets the bottle aside and pulls a marker from his pocket. He uncaps it with his teeth, then begins scribbling something crude and lazy on the metal panel beside his shoulder. He begins to snicker and that’s when I realize what he’s doodling—a dick-shaped rocket with flames shooting out the bottom and a little speech bubble that says: “MISSION: DEEP SPACE — R.A.” “You’re unbelievable,” I groan, half laughing, half horrified.

Ray had a total of seventeen rockets in his otherworldly storage space, and now, he unleashed them all at once. These weapons, while becoming less effective against increasingly powerful ability users, were perfect for this target. The building ahead was filled with "ability trash"—people who could claim powers but were still weak and expendable—so a full rocket assault was ideal. In an instant, seventeen rockets streaked toward the building from multiple angles, tails blazing like massive fireworks. The rockets' speed couldn't reach supersonic—they traveled just over a hundred meters per second—but even that was fast enough to be hard for a normal human to track with the naked eye.

Rocket explained. “I spoke about it with my therapist. She said if I felt ready it was time to try. Can we just try? And if it’s too much I’ll let you know. You can even give me a safe word.” She grinned. “All you have to say is stop or no. No safe word needed.” Rocket groaned. They went to her bedroom. She was nervous, but knew that was normal. She started to take off her shirt but he stopped her. Then his hands removed his own shirt. Next, he pushed his jeans and briefs down and kicked them off.

The energies within the power plant burst forth from the small rupture, and caused the whole thing to explode from the inside. The other two came charging in, and wove evasively as they neared the Ravens. And once they reached 1000 meters, fired back with their shoulder-mounted rocket pods. More than a dozen rockets came at the Ravens, streams of vapor followed in their wake. They slammed into the titacrete highway and buildings all around as the Ravens dodged them with evasive weaving.

I was on cloud nine, riding in comple ecstasy and I didn't want it to end anytime. Who would have thought, that after everything, one day, it would be Michael himself, my Mr Rover, who would want me?

Then it was Ryker's turn and Kyra watched him stand in front of twenty curious first-graders looking completely out of his element. "Hi, I'm Ryker Thorne and I race motorcycles professionally," he started. "Who here has seen a motorcycle before?" Every hand shot up and several kids started shouting about bikes they'd seen. Ryker smiled and Kyra felt something warm spread through her chest at seeing him interact with children so naturally. "Racing is about speed and control," Ryker continued. "But it's also about safety and knowing your limits, which is why I wear protective gear and follow rules."
