The knock on my hotel room door came just after midnight. He could smell her perfume, it was the first time he had noticed how sexual the scent was, as if was designed to attract men like a flower’s nectar attracts bees. Her face was coming nearer, her eyes connecting to his like limpets. Her mouth was ajar, her lips red like rubies. He descended the few inches which separated, his own mouth opening. They met, kissing passionately, tongues probing forward, exploring and teasing each other, their mouths trying to engulf the other, the lips both pressed together and moving around. His hands went lower over her ass cheeks, squeezing and cupping the round rump, as she too pulled him closer, her hands clamped together at the back of his neck.

Edward handled most of them while I restocked shelves and learned the layout. Around two, a woman came in looking for a specific dark romance. "Do you have anything like Butcher & Blackbird?" she asked. "I just finished it and I need something similar." Edward looked at me. "Maliya?" I stepped forward. "Have you read Haunting Adeline? Or the Broken Bride series? They've got similar dark romance vibes with morally gray love interests." Her face lit up. "I haven't read either of those. Where are they?" I led her to the romance section, pulled both books, gave her quick summaries.

she said with a wink, settling beside me on the couch and pulling a fuzzy blanket over us both. She queued up the movie on her TV, the opening credits filling the room with upbeat music. We totally need to check it out together. Second, I got these pack law books. These are the first two of four.” I smiled. Of course, she had already gone to the library. Her weapon is her mind and sharp tongue. She uses them well, too. “Did you find something interesting?”

But I didn't get a chance to call it out when she continued . “I stumbled upon this book the other day. By mistake, obviously. I thought it was a theological study on ‘Fellowship,’ but it was actually this incredibly sappy romance story about two childhood best friends who fall in love after they made a promise to marry each other if they were still single by thirty.” She let out what sounded like a nervous, high-pitched giggle. “They were very scandalous scenes in the book, Leon,” Rose murmured in a low voice. “Their…sexual escapades were so vividly described I couldn't stop blushing, but I couldn't stop reading either.” She laughed again.
