Run Away Novels & Stories

Powerful front and thinner hind legs, long thick coat. Having received freedom, the dog spun on the spot and moved away from his liberator. “Well, now you’re free,” Anika said, watching the dog move away, “and it’s time for me to go home.” Pleased with her action, she waved goodbye to the departing dog and returned to the path, hurrying home. My soul felt somehow light and joyful from the good deed done. Today's attempt to shorten the path was not in vain, bringing salvation to a living creature. And everything would have ended with pleasant memories and sensations, if a few minutes later she had not noticed that the rescued dog was following her.

I heard a voice say from way too close. Without thinking, I took off into the night, my legs splashing the puddles as I ran as fast as I could not slowing down for a moment. I could hear sounds behind me. They probably already knew that I was here, running away and they were chasing after me. I didn’t slow down, pushing myself harder as I ran to the muddy floor, heading for the dense bushes. I had to get away.

I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, my breath coming in short, panicked gasps. I didn’t care where I was going. I just needed to get away from whatever this was, away from the man who had turned from a wolf, away from the mansion, and away from Kai.

I roared in the rain, “Why? Why would a good mate and father violate a teenage wolf younger than his own offspring? Why did my own father abandon me?” For almost a year, I had nothing to eat and nowhere to go. During the day, I wandered the streets searching for food—sometimes finding leftovers from fancy restaurants, other times facing pups who recognized me and threw stones. Most of the time, I was starving. At night, I slept in a cold cave, waking almost every morning to the painful sound of my own stomach. Day after day, night after night, I grew tired and desperate, wishing to end my miserable life.

I let out a blood-curdling scream, knowing that I needed to get away, and I needed to get away fast. The men inched closer towards me, taking steps closer, closing the gap between us, causing me to let out a blood-curdling scream. I turned on my heel as quickly as I possibly could, and began bolting away from them, as fast as my legs could possibly carry me. One foot in front of the other, one foot in front of the other, running and running, picking up speed with every passing second. Running... Because my life literally depended on it. “She's getting away!” the veiny-eyed man bellowed. “Let's go after her!”

“Hey, beautiful. Out so late? Something bothering you? Maybe I can keep you company.” Fear gripped me as a man stepped closer. “Stay back, or I will call the police!” The man ignored that and walked toward me. “Don’t worry, little lady. I will make you happy.” As he got closer, I gripped my bag tightly and swung it at him. With a loud smash, my phone hit him on the head. He screamed in pain. “Ahh!!! How dare you?! You’ve done it now!” I tried to run past him as he grunted in pain.

“Does anywhere else feel uncomfortable?” The moment Alyssa opened her eyes, the men immediately gathered around her, their faces full of concern. Marcus stroked her head and said, “Don’t do something so dangerous again. We’ll worry.” Alyssa’s eyes reddened, and she clutched Elio’s hand. “I’m sorry. I was just too scared. Running away from the wedding back then was really my fault. I was afraid you wouldn’t want me anymore…”

“Ma! Don’t leave us! Please, we need you! “ Cinthye exclaimed despite the defeating noise around her. It was alarming. At that moment, the only thing she could think of is to abandon everything she ever knew but she couldn’t. Running away wouldn’t solve the problem. “Why me?” She cried desperately and clutch the doctors robe.

I smiled bitterly and said softly, "I understand." There would be no next time. In two days, I would take our child and fly to another country. I tried to use coldness to drive Vincent away, but not only did he not leave, he even sat beside me and brought a spoonful of soup to my lips. Before it reached my mouth, the bowl crashed onto the bed. The scalding liquid instantly covered my skin with blisters. At the doorway, Madison had collapsed to the floor. She looked at him, her whole body shaking with sobs.

They led straight to Oregon. I hadn't gone to my parents'. I wasn't sitting in a hotel waiting for him to come coax me back. I had gone to fly. A piece of paper sat on the corner of the coffee table. The words on it were brief. "I took my wings back. I'll complete the solo flight missing from my logbook myself in Bend. You must have seen the date on the ultrasound report by now. Don't come looking for me. I don't need you to make amends for any part of my past."
