"I don't have a puppy, but I'm pretty sure you just kicked me in the gut." She rolled her eyes and moved to the couch. Plopping on the cushion, she glanced back at him. He was still rubbing his chest. "Am I going to beat you at poker, or what?" In silence, he made his way over and sat at the opposite end, setting a deck of cards between them. It took him a round, but he snapped out of his Pity Peyton Party and they discussed other things. By eight-thirty, the day had caught up to her and she was less useful than a limp noodle. She called it a night.

The EX-Wife Returns

The EX-Wife Returns

"A person might touch their face when they're lying, or their breathing might change when they're nervous. Others are patterns, the way they bet, when they choose to play or fold. You have to watch everything." Soon they arrived at a large, elegant casino. The bright lights and sounds of slot machines filled the air. Calla looked around, taking in the crowded tables and intense expressions of the players. "Where should we start?" she asked, feeling a little overwhelmed. Killian took her hand. "Let's start with blackjack. It's simple, but it will help you learn to watch the other players." They found a blackjack table with a few other players. Killian put down some money to get chips, then pu

Love Addiction: Doting On My Love

Love Addiction: Doting On My Love

Lucius simply blinked, offering no reaction. Violet found the rules overly sensual, but she trusted her calculator and was not too concerned. The game commenced with Kristian as the initial dealer, swiftly spinning the bottle. Violet focused on counting the spins. At Kristian's signal, she quickly tapped on her calculator. "This round's N value is four," Kristian declared. Violet's fingers raced across her calculator. "113,433." Lucius had already declared the same number before she even pressed the second digit, and the others followed.

Diagnosis: Love

Diagnosis: Love

I jerked my attention back to her reply. "Yep. It's like normal everyday Blackjack, but if you lose, you really lose. Like an article of clothing." "Huh." My head was spinning a little. I hadn't had sex in a long time, and I'd had just enough to drink tonight that even if my judgment was slightly impaired, my performance wouldn't be. "Do you think this is a good idea?" A wicked smile curved her tempting lips. "I think it's the best idea ever." She reached for the cards again, gave them a perfunctory shuffle, and then dealt the first hand: one card each face-down, one card each face-up.

Run.

Run.

I tapped my fingernail against the teacup - an old nervous habit. “Rose will be wrapping up running patrol along the cottage in a few minutes, and I’m sure you have things to discuss with your friend,” Marjorie said, finally breaking the silence. She turned, her eyes boring into me. “Remember, Lya. Fate deals the most difficult hands to those who can do the most with them. It is still your choice of when you play your cards. But the cards won’t change. Hold them close to your heart, and use them all.”

The Immortal Emperor Returns

The Immortal Emperor Returns

In total, Chu Xun had placed his chips on banker six times, and he won six times in a row. If the reason for the first win was luck, for the second was coincidence, and for the third was moral quality, what was the reason for the fourth, fifth, and sixth win? 3.15 billion multiplies by 5 is 15.75 billion. In addition, Chu Xun’s principal was 3.15 billion. Therefore, the total was 18.9 billion.

Bloodscript: Survival Game of the Reborn

Bloodscript: Survival Game of the Reborn

It settled on me like a new weight. And, disturbingly, fit. “All right,” I said. “Red Streets Run first. Then we reassess.” I stepped toward that stall. The attendant behind its counter—a mannequin with a spray‑painted red stripe where its eyes should have been—raised its featureless head as my band came within range. “RED STREETS RUN,” it intoned. “TEAM ENTRY. 8–16 PLAYERS PER SESSION. ROUND VALUE: MEDIUM. CROWD FAVORABILITY: RISING.”

Secrets of the Luna

Secrets of the Luna

Putting 12 in a pile, I flipped the 13th one over. “Ready.” I said. Callie got her cards situated. “Ready… set... go!” she said as we started moving fast. Flipping out our cards, I went on a run until I was stopped. Callie’s face was completely focused. Our hands kept landing on top of another and a few cards went flying, but I won. “NERDS!” “BULLSHIT!” Callie yelled. “Haha!” Callie took a chug of the fishbowl as I separated the cards.

I am in love. I see a little of Kristen in Grace with her clumsiness and her attitude. Overall, the story is well written. I love how Grace sticks up for herself even though her mouth can get her into trouble. I am curious how much of a hold her family truly has on her.

Love the book although the plot is just a repetition of Tattooed Luna with a few differences. Same storylines… FL with complicated childhood being hunted down by villain with Mafia ties and overprotective brother is also in the mix. Just too similar in my view. But enjoyable nonetheless.

Black Card

Black Card

This life… still feels unreal. Ethan didn’t stop there. When they reached the counter, he didn’t step forward. He didn’t take the card. Instead—he let her handle it. “Use it,” he said simply from where he sat at the lounge, relaxed, composed, as if this was nothing. As if this was normal. Belle froze. The black card in her hand suddenly felt heavier than all the bags she carried combined. Her fingers tightened around it as she approached the counter, her steps hesitant. A thin sheen of sweat formed on her forehead despite the cool air inside the boutique.

Winning Me Back, Mr. Billionaire

Winning Me Back, Mr. Billionaire

When the dealer revealed his second card—nine of hearts—and Ray revealed his cards—king of spades and eight of diamonds— Zayne proudly placed his three cards on the table—king of hearts, two of hearts, and jack of clubs. “This time I win. My total is 20, Mr. Ray has 18, and Mr. Zayne has 22.” “Isn’t my total higher?” Zayne interrupted. The dealer slapped his forehead. The entire room burst into laughter, calling Zayne an idiot. Cold sweat ran down his forehead as the atmosphere crushed him further. Sebastian, standing nearby, silently urged him to just give up and find another way to get Elmy back. “Mr. Zayne, in blackjack, any total over 21 is an automatic loss,” the dealer explained, barel
