Arthur wasn’t being his usual self, and I couldn’t help but wonder what had happened between them.
Sage’s eyes flickered toward me, and the smile she gave was almost too perfect. “You must be Morgan,” she said, walking over with her hand outstretched. “Arthur has told me so much about you.”
I took her hand, trying to hide my discomfort. “Nice to meet you,” I said, keeping my tone neutral.
Arthur cleared his throat. “So, what brings you here, Sage? It’s been a while.”
Her smile grew, and I knew then that this wasn’t just a friendly visit. “I came because I have something important to discuss with you, Arthur,” she said, her voice smooth and confident.
