Loved (Book #2 in the Vampire Journals)

Loved (Book #2 in the Vampire Journals)

She stopped and read aloud: “Nathaniel Hawthorne was more than just another author who wrote about Salem. He lived in Salem. Most of his stories are set in Salem. Most of the buildings he described in Salem are integral to his stories, and many of them still stand here today. “More importantly, Hawthorne had a direct personal connection to some of the events and characters in his work. His most famous work, for example, The Scarlet Letter, tells the story of a woman, Hester Prynne, who is imprisoned and scorned by her peers for her adulterous behavior. Hawthorne had a more direct connection to these events than one would think. His real grandfather, John Hawthorne, was one of the principal j

Scarlett: The Crimson Bride

Scarlett: The Crimson Bride

His hands were covered in the deep rich red color of the victims' piles around the diner, while his feet swayed from the slow beat of the jukebox playing nearby. Scarlett was shaken, she had never seen so many bodies plied at one site in her life. The smell of their blood was so strong on her nostrils, not in hunger but disgust. To have so many bodies swimming in their own blood paint a very haunting picture. "No...I...I need to go. I n-need to go back..." she whispered to herself, with her voice cracking. Shaking her head to refuse her fate, if being with her Alpha to mercilessly kill humans and having to strain away from her sanity was her new norm, then she can't accept it. She slowly too

How to Make the Ice Prince Fall

If Katherine didn't recognize the handwriting and way of speech, she would have wondered if it was really her mother who wrote the letter. Laying the paper down, Katherine rubbed her temples. Instead of answering her questions and giving her hold, this letter only brought more mysteries with it. She always thought her parents were happy together. Now she knew they might have not been happy all the time. Well, whatever. She would still preserve the letter. It was the only thing she had that reflected her mother's personality in a way. Exhausted, she left it to Hazel to put it somewhere save. ---- Nathaniel couldn't focus his thoughts. There was a tenseness in his shoulders and neck that had n

Dark Water

The whites yellowed and streaked with crimson where the veins had ruptured. He opened his eyes swiftly, his skin draining of colour. The woman was watching, barely noticing the vile images that had started appearing. The contorted faces of children, their tears reflecting their knowledge of their impending death. One after the other...a litany of sin that Nathaniel carried and repented of each day. But as the smoke blurred the vision, she leaned forward, peering deep into the fire. A smile tugged at her thin lips before she sat back and slapped her hand on the ground beside her.

The Awakening

The Awakening

The wolf could walk away, broken but alive. Every wolf in that courtyard expected me to apologize. They expected me to cry, to beg, to grovel. They expected me to confirm what they wanted to believe, that I was guilty, that I deserved this, that their Alpha was just. I looked at the post. I looked at the runes. I looked at the dark stains at its base, stains that would never wash away, stains that held the last moments of wolves who had come before me. Then I lifted my chin. I squared my shoulders as much as the guards' grip would allow. And I waited.

The Crimson Letter

The Crimson Letter

“Then it’s not just showing me what’s happened. It’s showing me what will.” Theo reached beside the table again and pulled out a second item from the leather folder. It was slim, bound in deep red linen, the corners worn with time. He hesitated before handing it to her. Her breath caught the moment she saw the title: The Crimson Letter By Isla Ward She stared at it, her hand hovering. “Where did you get this?” “I found it last year,” Theo said quietly. “Tucked behind the books in the library’s upper shelf. I didn’t know what it was at first. Just that it felt… wrong.”

Goodbye, Mr. Ex, I’ve Married Your Uncle

Goodbye, Mr. Ex, I’ve Married Your Uncle

The second letter, written months later, was colder. The third was bitter. By the fourth, the words had turned to venom. You stole what was mine. You turned them against me. You think the world will forget, but I won’t. Scarlett’s hand trembled. She didn’t stop reading. By the sixth letter, Dana accused her mother of theft, betrayal, and even hinted at having “paid the price for someone else’s sins.” The language was erratic, fragmented—the rambling of a woman unraveling. Scarlett pressed a hand to her mouth, reading quietly. “She really hated my mother.”

The Lunar prophecy

the priest told us both. "Do you, Emilia Danvers, take Nathaniel Hawthorne as your lawful wedded husband, in sickness, in health, for poorer, for richer?" the priest asked Emilia, who glanced at me with a beautiful smile. "I do," she replied. "Do you, Nathaniel Hawthorne, take Emilia as your lawfully wedded wife, in sickness, in health, for richer, for poorer?" the priest asked me. Just then, the door burst open, and a feminine scent of flowers and peaches hit my nose, making my wolf restless.

The First Heir

The First Heir

“Okay, you’re done here. Find a place and end your life.” Scarlet waved her hand without further ado. As if he was bewitched, the man took out a piece of rope and chose to hang himself. He was an ordinary person, unable to resist Scarlet’s charm. After everything was done, Scarlet changed into plain clothes and went to the church. Alton should be here any minute. Sure enough, it was not long before she saw Alton. Scarlet followed the previous example and started selling something to attract the other party’s attention.
