“Silas is a child playing with blocks. This... this is the hands that carved the blocks.” She closed her eyes, pushing her consciousness outward. She bypassed the heavy lead shielding of the walls, her mind leaping into the stratosphere. What she saw made her blood turn to ice. Twelve black, triangular craft vessels that looked like shards of midnight were descending through the clouds in a perfect geometric formation. They didn't use engines; they moved by warping the space around them, a silent, terrifying grace that defied every law of human aerodynamics. They bore no flags, no serial numbers, and no markings of any known nation.

For now, her current goal was to get from her home world of Adryn-VI in a rural corner of Hyperion space and get to Braeccus Alpha. The calm and silence was so prevalent that she dozed off in the chair. In her dreams she sees the vastness of the cosmos, the planets, and the stars, a shape catches her attention. In an asteroid belt, amongst the rocks was a massive ship. It was the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen, hundreds of meters of black sleek armor with large intimidating guns and cannons, and at the back were powerful engines that spewed forth blue light. First, humanoids can drive them. Two, they keep them because somehow being in the air makes them dizzy, which puts them at a disadvantage. They can chase but not that fast. As we watched, a magnificent shuttlecraft descended from the sky, its massive form casting a long shadow on the ground. The sleek vessel, designed to seat six with an expansive cargo hold, hovered effortlessly just a foot over the ground. David's eyes sparkled with pride as he declared, "This is Atlantis's own Star fleet, she is one of four, top of the line, and all yours! – my gift to you."

POV EMMA BELLE The vessel that emerged from the rift was not a mercury-ship or an asteroid. It was a perfect replica of the Sun-Spire, but its obsidian was bleached to the color of bone, and its emerald vines were made of frozen, unmoving silver. I recoil from the sight, my eyes narrowing as I will myself to continue looking, and suddenly the planet implodes, scattering the dark matter over the Milky Way. The sound of silence sweeps through the Arena. The beautiful stillness of emptiness. The planet imploding was over within seconds. “Something's not right,” Miya murmurs as she opens her eyes and raises her head to the sky.
