His face was grim, his eyes scanning over the clipboard in his hands. “She’s stable,” he began, and I felt a wave of relief wash over me. “But she’s been badly injured by what we believe was a wild animal, possibly a wolf.” “A wolf?” I repeated, disbelief in my voice. That didn’t make sense. There hadn’t been any reports of wolves in the area, at least none that I had heard of. The doctor nodded. “That’s what the injuries suggest. Deep claw marks, consistent with a wolf attack. It’s rare, but not impossible in these woods.”

A soft voice in the shadows, almost like it was inside my own head. "The Forbidden Witch has finally awakened."

Forgetting the broken glass on the floor, I scrambled closer, my voice incredulous. "What did you just say the missing White Wolf King's name was?" The witch selling toads, her face alight with excitement, shoved a yellowed magical newspaper in front of me. "Bruce Silvermoon! Cici, you're always so buried in your potions, you probably don't follow this stuff. He's the sole Alpha heir of the Silver Moon Pack, the biggest celebrity in the werewolf world!"

When I woke up, I was in an underground cell chained with silver, there was no means of escaping. I really wanted to see the face of my kidnapper. Who would dare attack an Alpha werewolf? I tried escaping from the chains, but they would not bulge and I was getting weaker and weaker. It was at that moment that I prayed for a miracle from the Moon Goddess if she would listen to my prayers.
