THE ALPHA’S DEBT
As soon as the engine hummed to life, the two little wolves in the back fell into a deep, rhythmic sleep.
The cabin was silent, the only sound the soft roll of tires on pavement. Hamilton glanced at me. "Mind if I put on some music?"
"Go ahead," I said, leaning my head against the cool glass of the window.
A melody filled the car, and I froze. It was a haunting, minor-key arrangement I had composed months ago—one I had never officially released. Then the next track played, and the one after that. They were all mine.
I masked my shock, trying to sound casual. "You’re a fan of Maestro Adagio?"
