I could feel the weight of his stare, the tension thick enough to crush bones.
“Here I was, thinking friends shared everything with each other,” Antony muttered, his voice low. “I guess, to you, that meant reporting, huh?”
Kurtis never flinched. Never wavered. His expression remained cold, detached, like Antony’s words were nothing more than background noise.
“Like I said,” Kurtis repeated, voice steady, “it was a secret marriage. A secret relationship.”
Antony let out a bitter chuckle, nodding to himself like he finally understood something. “Well, sorry for stumbling into your secret,” he muttered before turning on his heel and storming out, the door slamming behind him.
