Something urges her to go all the way, and she does until she’s completely submerged.
Saya squeals inside her head as they sink to the bottom, and Selene doesn’t understand why being here feels different. It’s as if she’s drunk and falling off a cliff directly into the abyss. She has no control over her body; she opens her eyes underwater and can only see the moonlight peeking proudly between the redwood leaves.
She doesn’t know how much time passes, but she finally lifts her head and takes a violent breath, trying to fill her lungs with oxygen. Disoriented, she looks around, and it’s quite dark now. However, the moon is still there, shining above her.
