A year later, because she was starving, she wandered into the dangerous forest just on the southern border of Shadow City.

He closed his eyes and cursed softly before for the second time that evening proceeding to count his numbers to avoid spotting a hard on for his mate that hated him to her bones. For a brief moment, Leigh thought that Daphne might have been best of friends with Sica. After all, they could powder their faces all day long and talk about who was stealing whose boyfriend, an accusation she was sure both girls now pitched against her.

There, in the dim light, I saw a woman with her mouth gagged and her hands bound.

She lowered her head and continued to sweep the ground. The three men approached her and blocked her path. She tried to walk away, but they stepped in front of her to block her path. After several times, one of the men grew irritated. He smashed a bottle on the ground and pushed Daphne. "Get lost!" Daphne stumbled and fell hard on the ground. Her hand landed on the broken glass shards, and an excruciating pain shot through her. Her cap fell off, revealing her short, ear-length hair. The streetlight illuminated her face, showcasing her delicate features.
